Kim
Kim has been visiting the Scrapstore for over ten years and when she retired six years ago she decided to volunteer. Kim visits us every other Tuesday and volunteers for a couple of hours when she’s in Poole shopping. She loves sorting donations, especially fabric.
Kim says - “There’s always something different to discover.”
“Volunteering gives me a bit of ‘me time’. I love meeting like minded people and encouraging creativity.”

Owen
"I've been a volunteer for just over
two years and I really enjoy it.
"I do a bit of everything like cutting up materials, working on the till and helping customers to the car with their scrap.
I do two days a week and I like working with all the staff."
Carolyn goes to the Scrapstore once a week to help people pick out their crafting materials, maintaining the stock levels and helping to sort donations.
She also spends time at home volunteering by adding news, photos and events to Facebook as well as making displays for the warehouse and putting together crafting kits.
One of Carolyn’s favourite things is helping out with the monthly creative workshops for children aged 3-12 years. Each workshop has a theme such as puppets or outer space and is an opportunity for children to make new friends.
Carolyn would recommend volunteering as a way of bringing people together and sharing your skills and interests with the community.
Carolyn says: “I feel like I’m making a difference. We use events to increase membership which enables us to bring together people with a passion for arts and crafts.”
